Workforce Remodelling

Description

The new series of CareerWise begins with a lively snapshot of the issues around remodelling and is hosted by presenter Peter Curran.

Dame Pat Collarbone, director of the National Remodelling Team, and Chris Keates, general secretary of the National Association of Schoolmasters/Union of Women Teachers (NASUWT), talk about the process of change, the implementation of the workforce reform agreement, and the changing roles of supply teachers and teaching assistants.

CareerWise also visits John Cabot City Technology College in Bristol where cover supervisors are being introduced and trained. Prinicipal David Carter spent a sabbatical with the remodelling team and some of his ideas for new ways of working are close to the cutting edge. Fiona Flynn then revisits Stockwell Primary School, where she taught ten years ago, and talks to teaching assistant Michelle Akinyemi about how the role has changed.
