The Rower and the Magician

Description

This series showcases the talents of teachers who do remarkable things outside of the classroom. This episode features both a champion rower and a magician.

Alice Freeman teaches maths at Wallingford School in Oxfordshire. She is also a rowing champion and is through to the final round of the GB squad trials.

Alice trains every day, either on the river or at the gym, and has a plethora of British Universities Sports Association titles to her name.

She intends to teach part-time next year to further concentrate upon her rowing and has the 2008 Olympics in her sights.

Semi-professional magician Andrew Jeffrey is president of the Sussex Magic Circle. He's also a maths teacher and deputy head at Windlesham School in Brighton.

Andrew is president of the Sussex Magic Circle and regularly performs close-up magic at the Komedia Club in Brighton.

He has also developed his own maths magic act in which he uses magic to teach his pupils maths skills.
