KS1/2 Science - Dancing in Science

Description

Victoria Palmer teaches a class of pupils from several Key Stages, including Year 2s, older Year 1s and some Year 3s at Bishops Castle Primary School in Shropshire.

She is familiar with linking the arts with other areas of her teaching but has never incorporated dance into her science lessons.

In this programme, Victoria meets up with dancer Rachel Freeman in order to plan and teach a lesson about the human body.

With Rachel's help, Victoria introduces the children to different body parts, explains how they move and demonstrates what happens to their bodies before and after exercise.

The children learn from a variety of different dance sequences, observing changes in their breathing, heart rates and temperatures.
