Maths specialist and teacher Carol Knights demonstrates how dynamic geometry software can transform the teaching of mathematical concepts. Pupils can be engaged through interactive demonstrations, constructions and explorations.
Carol shows a demonstration and proof of the sum of the angles in a triangle, an interactive number line, and how to use the software to explore reflections, rotations and symmetry. She shows how to do some classic geometrical constructions and a visual illustration of Pythagoras' theorem.
Finally, she shows how the software can be used to create graphs and we see this facility used by a Year 7 class to explore the properties of straight line graphs.
