Improving Professional Practice

Description

This programme offers a snapshot of three middle managers from South Gloucestershire, each striving to improve their professional practice.

  • Jane Croker, curriculum manager of modern foreign languages at Mangotsfield School uses coaching to support her teaching and leadership skills
  • Anne Steel, head of German and Spanish at Ridings School, shares her experience of assessing departmental staff
  • Joanna Lucas, head of geography at Hanham High School, explains how she listens to pupil voices in order to prepare for school self-evaluation

In addition, we see two middle managers involved in a coaching session, a technique that can aid self reflection and help provide direction-setting and action planning.

We also observe the interaction between a middle manager and an NQT during a post-observation feedback session.
