- Education Professionals
Dartington Primary School have devised a unique aspect to the curriculum for their Year 5 pupils: they are being taught how to teach!
The scheme involves the pupils observing teachers at work, learning about professional values and devising lesson plans.
Over a term, they make their own resources and plan a lesson in either mathematics or English, to give to pupils from Year 1. This is closely monitored by their tutor who will award them Primary Qualified Teacher Status (PQTS) if they complete the course successfully.
In this programme we follow six children taking the course. The children talk about their experience, what they felt about being a teacher and what it has meant to them as learners.
