Shoeburyness High School in Southend-on-Sea has developed a fresh approach to supporting children with special needs in a mainstream school.
In Year 7, those children who find transfer to secondary particularly difficult are taught in a small single class called the achievement group. They are supported with a curriculum differentiated to meet their needs which is delivered by primary-trained teachers.
