Ready for School app launched for parents

Bright Horizons, the second largest nursery group in the UK, has launched a new app for parents of pre-school children.

The Ready for School app is a collection of themed learning activity packs designed to develop children’s confidence and love of learning.

The app, for iphone, ipad and ipod, includes games and activities for parents to play with their children to help prepare them for school.

Parents will be able to help their child prepare for school life – from getting used to fastening coats and changing for PE to asking questions and being ready to read. There are also questions to prompt discussions, suggestions for how to develop children’s counting skills and games for families to enjoy together.

Author and education consultant Penny Tassoni said, “What is wonderful about this app is that it gives parents everything they need to be wonderful educators. The mini activities have been cleverly designed to help parents maximise teaching opportunities in everyday situations such as shopping, weather or even getting stuck in a queue.”
