What is the National Curriculum?
This is the framework that state schools in England and Wales have to work to. It relates to all children aged 5 to 16. It has been put in place to ensure the same standards of teaching and learning are delivered across the country and to make sure all children have a broad and balanced education up to the age of 16. However within the framework schools have the freedom to plan and organise their teaching and learning activities in a way that is best for their pupils.
