A KS3 teacher shows how she encourages her secondary students to make videos as a means of assessing their understanding of a topic, using interactive science and ICT tasks to help the students understand KS3 assessment criteria.
Year 8 biology students at the CTC Kingshurst Academy near Birmingham, make their own video presentations on the scientific topic of classification using the programme Microsoft Moviemaker.
As well as being a good creative learning strategy for the students, KS3 science Co-ordinator Margaret Allport explains how she uses this as a way of encouraging students to raise their expectations, and to help them understand assessment criteria for their KS3 target levels.
