African singing is explored in this Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 secondary music video.
Fronted by presenter and composer Howard Goodall, this installment focuses on African singing, with performances from Formby High School.
African singing is often based on simple, repetitive structures which are fun to sing and easy to teach to new singers.
Steve Cook, at Formby High School, presents the popular Afrika Mundo choir, composed of older students, and they sing songs from Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Many of the students in Afrika Mundo are singing leaders and perform and run workshops with primary schools too.
