Primary Science: Forces and Motion Activities

Description

A look at four examples of teaching the subjects of force and motion at KS1 and KS2.

Year 2 teacher Jess Scott demonstrates how to teach the forces of pushing and pulling by inspiring her class to create a model of the "big bad wolf" from clay.

The class work in pairs; one pupil describes the forces they are using as the other performs the motion.

Year 5 teacher Katherine Mottram teaches her class about forces, friction and fair testing as she challenges them to investigate which track will be best for their rocket balloons to fly down.

Later deputy headteacher Tony Davies explains an intriguing way to introduce friction, with the "jelly chopsticks" race, while teacher David Aston explains force by using paper helicopters to his Year 5-6 class.

Each of the ideas includes an online lesson plan and resources list for viewers.
