Investigating pH with Year 11 Using a pH Probe

Description

A lesson demonstrating how to introduce KS4 pupils to the concepts of acids, alkalis and pH levels.

Teacher Paul Preece at Camborne Science and Community College, demonstrates the classic neutralisation process.

Paul uses a pH probe connected to a data logger on the whiteboard to show in real time exactly how the pH curve changes during the reaction.

After the demonstration, the Year 11 pupils analyse the pH curve and consider in more detail what it represents.
