While the media debate the pros and cons of the academy initiative, the management team of Capital City Academy in north London is more concerned with the practicalities of turning the vision into a reality.
Secondary headteachers and KS3/KS4 teaching staff can learn about the launch of the Academy, where it is now and where the managers want it to be. Sponsor Sir Frank Lowe has overseen the building of a radical new Norman Foster building to house the school. And he's determined to create new opportunities for students in Willesden, north London.
Headteacher Philip O'Hear has only been in the post for a few months. He's proud of the new facilities but the pressure is on to make the most of the investment and start to deliver results.
