Roald Dahl

Description

This is a very special edition of Reading Aloud, dedicated to the life and times of Roald Dahl.

Michael Rosen presents the programme from Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire where the author lived for 36 years. The village and its inhabitants helped shape many of Dahl's stories.

In this programme:

  • Widow Felicity Dahl vividly describes her late husband's writing regime in his hut at the end of their garden, which involved a steady supply of tea, whisky and tobacco
  • We explore the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre that has recently been opened in Great Missenden and is proving to be a tremendous resource for schools
  • We uncover the hidden treasures buried in Dahl's archive, now collated and carefully stored at the museum
  • Our experts discuss Boy, Roald Dahl's poignant, moving and extremely funny memoir of his childhood

The panellists are Grant Bage of NESTA, publisher Justin Somper, and teacher Ros Thomson.

Please note that this programme is not available for download due to rights issues.
