With children often picking up a fear of maths from their parents, one primary school has adopted a series of strategies aimed at involving parents and breaking the cycle of fear.
Wylde Green Primary School, Sutton Coldfield, invites parents to workshops where they learn side by side with their children, picking up consistent methods and techniques to positively support maths at home.
The school also provides them with a resource pack, including whiteboards, number squares, mathematical games and a DVD, which the school produces themselves, to support current techniques for learning maths.
The programme highlights key recommendations from the Williams Report on maths teaching seen in practice at Wylde Green School and at a pupil's home
