Primary Staying Healthy

Description

The Parents' Guide series explores what is going on in schools today and discusses some of the key issues from parents' points of view.

In this programme, presenter Fiona Millar and two parents, Zoe Pickering and Anne-Marie Morris Daley, together with education consultant Meg Martin, discuss staying healthy in primary schools. They take a look at some SchoolsWorld programmes and see how the issue of staying healthy is being addressed by teachers, pupils and, of course, parents. They ask:

  • What are the benefits to learning and self-esteem of children taking more exercise?
  • Is there a crisis in children's health through poor diet and how can schools address this?
  • Whose responsibility is it to give children sex education?
  • How can schools and parents work together?
