This programme examines how the Young Apprentice scheme, launched in September 2004, is working in practice by following two pupils taking part in South Yorkshire.
In Rotherham, strong partnerships between schools, FE colleges and LEAs was already in place, making them successful in bidding for 30 places.
The YA scheme is an innovative solution to broadening vocational choices in Key Stage 4. It is aimed at academically bright pupils and provides 50 days of work experience.
In The Experience, we follow the pupils involved and see how much they are getting out of the scheme. Key staff discuss some of the issues in delivering a curriculum in more then one institution and how they ensure pupils don't miss core subject lessons.
