Who's Going to Japan?

Description

Sixty hopefuls compete at the UK Skills Selection competition in Coventry and Warwickshire to make the team of 23 that will travel to the WorldSkills event in Japan in November 2007.

In a three day competition the candidates must demonstrate they have both the skills and the personality to succeed. Held at several FE colleges, the competition is fierce as national champions battle it out with each other and against the WorldSkills standards that they'll have to reach to qualify for the team.

For some the pressure is too great and they withdraw, for others tears flow as they fail to make the team. For the victorious few, it's the start of an intensive period of training to try and reach the standards of skills and personal discipline WorldSkills demands.
