In this programme, teacher Bridget Johnson delivers two lessons on pre-1914 fiction to a group of mixed ability Year 9 students.
For both lessons, the pupils - from Battersea Technology College in London - will read the short Sherlock Holmes story, The Red-Headed League.
Bridget's first lesson focuses on pre-reading activities that engage the pupils' interest in both characters and plot before they begin to read the story.
The second lesson looks at after-reading strategies that help pupils interrogate the text more closely, in preparation for their GCSE coursework.
Advisory teacher, Kate Oliver, from the English and media centre, is on hand throughout the lessons to lend Bridget support and offer advice.
