Managing the Process

Description

This programme looks at how Great Barr Primary School's skills-based curriculum and advanced tracking system for pupil progress has impacted on maths standards in both foundation stage and KS1.

Headteacher Sue Courbet believes that to improve value they need to get children to enjoy maths more. They've trained staff to deliver much more practical activity and have pushed speaking and listening in maths.

We see how senior staff, including the maths co-ordinator, are linking the schools enquiry-based approach to learning with the new maths framework.

Standards are being monitored through book trawls, and the Birmingham school is paying more attention to its assessment data using the RAISE online website.
