Lesson Planning

Description

Catherine McCrory, head of history at Sweyne Park School, talks through her plans for dealing with the unknown skill levels of pupils in her new Year 7 history class.

Sweyne Park has been commended for its planning and sees it as a great opportunity for professional development. We see how Catherine works with newer history teachers to develop their planning techniques.

We also hear from deputy head Andy Samways, who explains how the analytical and reflective iceberg model used by the school fits into the medium term planning.

Planning is a critically important and complex part of teaching and learning. This focus on Sweyne Park's three-tiered approach to short, medium and long-term planning demonstrates how plans can materialise in the classroom.
