Problem solving can be a difficult concept within KS2 maths but in this programme, we explore new ways in which children can be engaged.
At Burnt Tree Primary School in Sandwell, specialist team teachers, ICT-based resources and kinaesthetic learning methods have had a measurable impact on the teaching and learning of maths.
We follow Pali Nahal from the Teacher of the Future project as she works with class teacher Becky Miller. Together, they build a set of ICT-based sources to deliver their hypothetical problem.
During the lesson, we see how team-teaching can motivate children and up-skill class teachers, how an interactive white board can aid mental manipulation and how acting out a problem can assist with understanding.
